I. Definition of Sport

A. Airsoft is a military simulation sport, very similar to paintball.

B. The sport is most popular in Hong Kong, Asia, Japan, and Taiwan.

C. History of sport

1) It began in Japan during the 1970s when real guns were prohibited.

2) Guns were first made to go about 20 feet maximum range.

3) Airsoft in America began with failed attempts in the 1980s by Daisy bb gun company.

4) By 2003 Daisy tried again to make air soft guns and succeeded by selling them under the name “Powerstrike” and sold mainly from the internet.

II. Equipment required

A. To play airsoft, you need an airsoft gun, ammo, and eye protection.

B. You also might want to wear heavy clothing also.

C. A hat or some kind of head protection is useful just in case.

D. Camouflage is optional to wear, but is helpful for hiding and blending in with your environment.

III. Safety equipment

A. Eye protection is crucial for airsoft.

B. Heavy clothing

1) Sweatshirt

2) Sweat pants

3) Pads (optional)

4) Hat or cap

5) Gloves (optional)

IV. Training

A. You need to be in good physical shape to play airsoft.

B. The only way you can get better at airsoft is from experience.

C. You need to be able to operate and reload any gun at any time.

V. Explanation of proper technique

A. Loading airsoft guns

1) To load a gun you first put the ammo in the clip.

2) Next, after you have made sure the clip is full, you insert the clip into the proper area.

3) Make sure the clip is properly placed into the gun and you should hear a click when the clip is in place.

B. Shooting airsoft guns

1) In order to shoot an airsoft gun, first the safety must be off.

2) There must be ammo in the clip in order to shoot an airsoft gun, and the clip must be inserted correctly.

3) After that you use the sights on the gun to aim it.

4) Line the front site with the back sight at your target.

5) Slowly squeeze the trigger until the gun is fired.

C. Movement

1) Movement is crucial to airsoft.

2) Stay as low as you can at all times and keep your head down.

3) Make sure your gun is on your dominant shoulder and facing down across your body while you are moving.

4) Remember, the slower you move, the less sound you will make.

VI. Places you can play airsoft

A. The closest place to play airsoft in our area is called Haven airsoft club in P.A.

B. There are airsoft groups and airsoft ranges all over the world.

VII. Different game types

A. There are very many different ways to play airsoft.

B. Back to basic

1) Game played with only spring pistols

C. Capture the flag

1) Game where 2 or more teams try to get the other team’s flag and take it to their base without getting shot.

D. SWAT terrorist elimination

1) A swat team of 25% of the players has to clear an area of terrorists. (Buildings are better for the game type.)

E. Other game types include: last man standing, assassins, king of the hill, paratroopers, zombies, traitors, commando raid, wanted preferred dead, and hard eight.
